Inspiration for Owner Katie Minard

My inspiration for Modern Edge is my passion for fashion. I think the point I truly knew I needed my own store was when I realized how much I LOVED to shop for my little niece, Zaylie Michelle. She is two years old and a diva, times ten. She enjoys dressing up and dancing with her Auntie K (aka me) and she LOVES to help me in my office when I’m working on shipments and paperwork. She organizes my paperclips and helps me fold clothes (well....she tries)- paid in chocolate milk and frosted animal crackers, of course. She amazes me everyday with how smart she is as she helps me with small tasks around the store almost daily. I will continue to strive to grow my business one customer at a time with the hopes that one day, this little fashionista will be working alongside me. I will teach her that you can do absolutely anything, ANYTHING as long as you put your mind and heart into it and start turning your dreams into actions.

We wish to provide quality, affordable, and well-constructed clothing to a dynamic demographic where the designs are catered for a classy, every day, or even a business casual fashion.

​Starting a fashion business is a dream for many women. The idea of curating a store full of several different items that you love, and then to connect with customers to find out what they really want, all while being able to work hours that fit your lifestyle. As a frequent shopper myself, online and in-store, along with working in retail for several years, I know what quality of clothing a shopper expects and what prices are reasonable to pay, and I’ve created a store to shop that provides just that for you located at 207 W Buchanan St. California, MO 65018; Modern Edge Boutique has a newly renovated store front that sits among several other businesses in the heart of a small town where I grew up.

 

​My business plan is not number driven, but derived by what kind of business would be compatible with what mid-Missouri is longing for in the fashion industry. An immense amount of research efforts continue to take place to understand my customer base that will be served and what Modern Edge Boutique will ultimately be in business for, along with encouraged feedback from frequent shoppers. Knowing and relating with my customers to create a personal shopping experience is my top priority and understanding the mentality of our potential customers will be of importance to serving you.

 

​Modern Edge Boutique currently caters to women of all ages and sizes along with select men and children clothing and shoes. We are an online boutique as well as a brick and mortar in California, MO. We specialize in business clothing, casual wear, and classy fashions.
